About Dr. Yorgason
Dr. Yorgason was born in Bountiful, Utah, and grew up in Provo and Salt Lake City. He graduated from Brighton High School, and went on a two year mission to Poland. He moved to New York City after his mission, and obtained a Bachelor's degree from Columbia University with a major in Neuroscience. He also obtained his medical degree from Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York. After doing his general surgery internship in Dallas, he spent a year in Los Angeles at the House Ear Institute studying the molecular mechanisms of hearing loss and hearing restoration. He was happy to finally return home to Salt Lake City to complete a residency in otolaryngology, head and neck surgery at the University of Utah. He spent a significant amount of time during residency working at Primary Children's Medical Center, gaining experience in treating children with emergent and non-emergent pediatic disorders of the ear, nose and throat. In addition to a broad training in adult otolaryngology- head and neck surgery, he took particular interest in the medical and surgical treatment of hearing and balance disorders. While in residency, he published articles on the molecular mechanisms of drug toxicity to the ear, and was awarded the Dean Gray Resident Research award two years in a row for this research. He is continuing his affiliation at Primary Children's and at the University of Utah as an adjunct faculty, furthering his research interests in diseases of the outer and inner ear.
Dr. Yorgason enjoys spending time with his wife and three children. His wife, a registered dietician, has a private practice specializing in sports nutrition and treating patients with eating disorders on an outpatient basis. Together, they enjoy the outdoors, traveling and spending time with extended family. His hobbies include skiing, biking, running, tennis and golf. He also enjoys playing the piano and singing tenor in church choir.
